Provides evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and psychotherapy for adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients with addictive disorders. Reports to the Program Coordinator. Performs addiction and mental status assessment on patients admitted to the program under the supervision of the physician.
Participates alone, or with a co-therapist, in addiction counseling groups, including educational, recreational and community milieu treatment groups or programs.
Provides ongoing individual, couples and family addiction counseling as appropriate for patients.
Reviews and identifies eligibility for health insurance and/or entitlements. Obtains authorization for indicated clinical services and reviews/updates as indicated.
Maintains accurate, professional documentation of appropriate information as required by hospital policy, Joint Commission, state and federal standards and managed care entities.
Requirements: o Professional knowledge of addictive and psychiatric disorders and their clinical manifestations affecting the adolescent, adult and/or geriatric populations.
o Knowledge of self-help groups for addiction recovery within the community.
o Demonstrated working knowledge of addiction-focused individual, group and family counseling theory and practice.
o Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
o Minimum of an Master''s Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Counseling or other related field. Licensure required.
o Current certification as a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LADC) in the State of Connecticut preferred.
o Minimum two years of experience in addiction/dual diagnosis treatment required.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
