Position Description:
The Supply Chain Manager's responsibility is to direct, and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in Procurement, Planning, and Scheduling in the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Leads planning and purchasing staff and coordinates procurement activities for assigned locations. Ensures material flow to meet production schedules and customer expectations. Responsible for supplier price negotiations and verification of quality from the best source. Monitor vendor performance related to price, quality, and delivery. Provides ongoing review of alternative suppliers. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Manages and oversees the supply chain department, including vendor development, contract negotiation, procurement execution, production planning, and inventory control, shipping and receiving, and outsourcing evaluation. Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers. Participate with corporate purchasing for global sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management for MRO, production inventory, engineering requirements, and capital equipment. Supervises planning and procurement department. Establish and coordinate production schedules in the factory environment to ensure smooth flow of materials from internal and external suppliers through manufacturing and shipping to meet promised ship dates to customers. Establish and maintain department budget. Manage activities to meet or better-established budgets and cost savings targets. Develop supplier evaluation process congruent with organizational and corporate objectives. Negotiate and administer agreements for combined requirements of commonly used materials to obtain maximum value. Recommend outsourcing & insourcing of goods, services, and materials as business volumes and strategies dictate. Responsibilities include identifying outsourcing candidates, supplier selection, negotiating commercial terms, managing transition to production runs, and monitoring supplier performance. Increase commodity expertise and procurement effectiveness through strategy meetings, department skill/performance reviews, and effectiveness evaluations. Maintain monthly Approved Supplier List and Scorecard System. Drive operational efficiencies by using quantitative and analytical approaches to determine, calculate and improve the supply chain process. Proactively analyzes operational metrics, making and driving process improvements within the supply chain, and sourcing. Provide Visual Communication and Metrics with Planning/ Scheduling/ Purchasing Team. Regularly review and recommend changes in Kanban inventory items. Manage inventory to meet reduction objectives and ensure the ongoing accuracy of records including Inventory Cycle Counting and physical inventory activities, as necessary. Manage Excess and Obsolescence (E & O) list as a material and cost savings initiative. Conduct periodic personnel evaluations and develop team members through career planning and coaching. Develop metrics to assess supplier performance, improve forecast accuracy while maintaining overall quality and customer service. Establish and maintain key performance indicators to measure progress toward strategic goals. Drive continuous improvement in Materials Department utilizing standard work and Lean principles. Coordinate supply chain activities within the supply chain team. Provide supply chain leadership and direction in the development of team priorities. May perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements:
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor's degree in Operations or relates discipline, and seven to 10 years' experience in leading Materials Management activities. Must have direct experience leading a staff of 5-10 Microsoft Dynamics, complex MRP/ERP system experience Knowledge and prior experience with lean manufacturing; to include training subordinates and all impacted associates. Preferred Certifications:
APICS, ASQ, Six Sigma Green Belt, etc. Planning and Purchasing experience Vendor base development and scorecards maintenance Manufacturing support background Multi-site supply chain coordination Experience with Asian suppliers strongly preferred Lean Six Sigma Additional Characteristics:
Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Supply Chain & Logistics, Operations ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
