Lab Technician Histology

Perform all technical duties of slide preparation; processing, embedding, cutting, staining and cover slipping for Pathology review.
# Responsible for slide preparation of frozen sections and all functions in the OR Lab.
# Responsible for the proper service to the patient population which includes:
# neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and older adult.
# This position reports to the Support Service Manager.
# Receive and process gross surgical specimens according to established and written procedures.
# Cut, stain, mount and label slides according to defined techniques.
# Re-cut additional sections; perform stain as directed by the Team Leader, manager or pathologist.
# Prepare frozen sections for pathologists and keep OR lab supplied # File and retrieve blocks and slides as necessary.
Requirements:
# HT (ASCP) certification or HLT (ASCP) certification # Successful completion of accredited Histotechnology program # High School graduate # Accurate and precise histological technical skills.
# Have good manual dexterity/good visual skills.
# Ability to work in fast paced environment including off site OR Lab.
Recommended Skills Fine Motor Skills Histology Pathology Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
